Natural Dye Weekend…. Have you ever picked up a dye book and have no idea where to start? Join me on my dye weekend and be inspired to start exploring natural dyes with confidence.
- 1. Perfect for beginners or those wishing to brush up on skills. Get to grips with the fundamentals of natural dyes from mordanting to creating strong colours. Learn how I create a wonderful colour palette with simple methods... Gain confidence to just play and explore the wonders of natural dyes.
Focus: The importance of mordants. Alum & Rhubarb leaves.
Dyes: Onion, cochneal, logwood, weld, madder.
Practical outcome: Selection of fibres & yarns from the various dye pots to take home.
Day 2. Open pot day… you will be provided with a selection of yarns & fibres pre- mordanted. And will spend the day exploring colour through dip dying, over dying and modifications. This is a full hands on day with the freedom to create your own colour pallete.
Focus. Playful experimentation, dip dying, over dying, using modifyers. Brief introduction to indigo. Dyes: onion, cochneal, logwood, weld madder & indigo.
Practical outcome: Selection of fibres & yarns from the various dye pots to take home.
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: complete beginners and those with experience.
